Dear Friends
By His Grace, Vitoba gave me the encouragement, enthusiasm, and enormous speedy involvement (100 stories in 65 days) to evolve myself as a compiler of his 100 stories in tamil under the title "THEVITTAADHA VITTALA! " I had to refer so many scriptures for hours together, day and night to read, think and identify the subject for my stories which I am glad I dressed with my imagination and description, as submitted to you all these days.
Similar to the 100 tamil Krishna stories now taking shape as a book with the title VISWAROOPANIN VAMANA KATHAIGAL" (to be released on 31.8.2013 by SREE KRISHNARPANAM SEVA SOCIETY's 'janmashtami" celebrations at Nanganallur venue: SUDHARSAN'S TERRACE HALL (next to BSNL TELEPONE EXCHANGE BLDG at 5 pm) the Pandurangan stories are going to be in book form taken care of by the sponsors in Singapore which is His ordain.
The Tamil stories on Krishna are being written in English for the benefit of non-tamil readers and children. You have received 50 of them till yesterday. In another 45 days the english stories I hope to comple for which sponsors may come forward as with the tamil books referred to above.
I am very glad to share a miracle of Vittalan with you. I was wondering who will be the sponsor for Vittalan stories in tamil to be published as a book. A reader of my stories living in Singapore, heretofore unknown to me, the very next morning mailed me and assured me that in all possibility, there will be some friends of hers willing to sponsor in Singapore from among the tamil families. How the miracle manufacturer from Pandarpur controls Singapore is beyond anybody's guess.
I am immsnesly grateful to Mrs Uma Gururajan of Singapore for also volunteering to help me by shouldering the trmendous responsibility of translating the 100 tamil Vittalan stories in english and has covered 25% of the stories till date and sent me for scrutiny and to touch up and polish if needed, which I doubt very much.
From today Pandurangan will be in stories from the pages of 'VITOBA, THE NECTAR" translated by Mrs Uma Gururajan waiting in your " in box" to meet and enjoy Him. Please do let me know how you find him with your frequent feed backs.
Dear Children
VITOBA THE NECTAR ( translation by Mrs Uma Gururajan)
1. The Lone horse rider
From today, you are blessed to be in the company of many true devotees of Lord Pandurangan, known as Vittal and Vitoba to all His devotees. Be prepared to enjoy the nectar of Vitoba, which incidentally is the title of this permanent companion of yours. Chathrapathi Sivaji Maharaj joins you in the small quite beautiful village of Dhehu, in particular to the small quite palm leaf thatched shed surrounded by beautiful sweet smelling trees rich with multicoloured flowers spreading both shade and fragrance
The old makeshift palm leaf thatched shed is where Saint Thukaraam stays tuned with Lord Vitoba in his abangh bhajans which always attracted a good number of devotees immersed in the devotional group singing. There is a small river serving the village nestling behind the Ashram (the hermitage or devotional hall) of Saint Thukaram. It is the famous Indriyani river of which you are going to learn a lot in the stories to come. Hsh!! Follow silently the great Maraathi Warrior, into this Ashram where the sounds of cymbals and Kartal accompanying the bhajans is enchanting. Infact Sivaji Maharaj has been travelling the whole day from his fortress far away in search of Dhehu village, to visit Saint Thukaaram and receive his blessings,
Devotees had gathered in a small hall for listening to Sant Thukaram's bhajans in front of the Lord VITTAL sanctum. Standing in his usual pose with hands on hips, Lord VITTAL was thoroughly enjoying Thukaram's Abhangam (it is a kind of bhajan). Sivaji was considered a terror by the Moghul empire and the Sultans were always waiting for an opportunity to catch him. An ardent devotee of Vittal, Chatrapathi Shivaji was deeply involved in the Naama Sankeerthanam. His concentration and devotional participation was interrupted by one of his trusted lieutenants nearing him. As the hall was very crowded, with much difficulty, he managed to reach the Chatrapathi and gave him the message:
"Your Majesty! Somehow the Sultan has come to know that you are here and he has sent the army to catch you. They are on their way to this place."
Chatrapathi realized the urgency of the situation. He thought for a moment and then went to Thukaram and said "Swamiji! I do not want to disturb the peace and the vibration in this place. So I have to necessarily leave now". Swamiji replied "Maharaj why do you feel like leaving Vithoba's abangam half-way. Can you please wait till it finishes and then leave". Chatrapathi thought that it was better to die chanting Vittal’s name and also felt it was better to surrender to the Sultan's army without any fight and without disturbing other devotees. So he decided to accept what was in store for him, and stay back. He forgot the situation he was placed in and soon was merged in the Naama Sankeerthanam without any worry or fear of death.
The Sultan's army chief entered the town with a large number of horses and 2000 soldiers carrying weapons in their hands. He was determined to catch Chatrapathi either dead or alive. As they entered the town, Chatrapathi Shivaji's men in hiding, encountered them and a war started. Seeing Shivaji on a horse fighting fiercely with his sword, all the soldiers of the Sultan's army targeted him. Shivaji decided it was not advisable to fight the Sultan's army single handed. He drove his horse fast and moved away from his own men, to save their lives, and swiftly entered the dense forest. Sultan's army chased Shivaji but could not catch him. Sivaji rushed into the forest like lightning and vanished. However hard, they tried, Sultan's army could not find Shivaji.
By the way Children! Do you know the nick name of Chathrapathi Shivaji?. He was known as Mountain Rat because he knew every nook and corner of the mountain range, lakes, caves in the area. By the evening, the Sultan's army returned empty handed and stood in front of the Sultan sheepily.
That evening the Sultan was very angry and shouted at the soldiers "2000 soldiers went to catch a single man and came back empty handed. Are you all not ashamed?" He ordered whipping them.
Let us go back to see the happenings in the Bhajan Hall. The Abangam Bhajans completed and everyone prostrated in front of Thukaram Swamiji and got his blessings. As Shivaji got his blessings from Swamiji, the trusted lieutenant came again to him and said "Maharaj! The Sultan's army could not catch you as you were going in the horse towards the forest like lightning. How did you manage to come back so fast?" he exclaimed. Hearing this, Shivaji was stunned and turned towards VITTAL's smiling face with tears in his eyes.
Dear Children! You may be wondering how Sivaji who was reluctant to leave the bhajans and went out to fight with the mugal sultan’s army. When did he leave and silently came back aftering eluding them.! You are right. You know the answer. When Sivaji trusted in VITTAL and surrendered himself to Vittal, unmindful of the possibility of being caught alive by the sultan’s army unarmed, it became the bounden duty of Vittal to sneak out in Shivaji's form to face the Sultan's army and led them to the forest where they were still searching for Shivaji.
