Namaskaram
We are glad to present today the famous piece of Sri Tyagaraja “Nannu Palimpa” composed in Raga Mohanam. Legend is that during the marriage of Sri Tyagaraja’s daughter one of his devoted disciple Sri Walajapet Venkatramana Bhagavatar carried a portrait of Sri Kodanda Rama as a present to his beloved Guru. Upon seeing the portrait Sri Tyagaraja went into rapture and composed this Kriti “Naanu Palimpa”. A music festival is celebrated at Ayyampettai every year by members of Saurashtra Community in commemoration of Sri Walajapet Venkatramana Bhagavatar. Sri Venkatramana Bhagavatar and his son Sri Krishnaswami Bhagavatar wrote two separate biographies of Sri Tyagaraja. The palm manuscripts of Sri Tyagaraja and his horoscope are housed in the premises of Saurashtra Sabha, Madurai which was handed over by Sri Venkataraman Bhagavatar.
We are glad to share the masterpiece sung by Smt M.S. Subbulakshmi Amma.
Sri Tyagaraja Aradhana is being celebrated coming week on 28th Jan 2016, let us remember Sri Tyagaraja by listening more of his divine kritis.

Nannu Paalimpa – Sri Tyagaraja - Mohanam
Pallavi
Nannu Paalimpa Nadachi Vacchitivo
Naa Praana Naatha
Did you come by foot to protect Me Oh My Lord of my life?
Anu Pallavi
Vanaja Nayana Momunu Juchuta
Jeevanamani Nenaruna Manasu Marmamu Telisi
Knowing the secret of my mind that beholding Your lotus eyed face is my livelihood, did You kindly come by foot to protect me?
Charanam
Surapati Neelamani Nibha Tanuvutho
Uramuna Mutyapu Sarula Chayamutho
Karamuna Sara Khodanda Kaantitho
Dharani Tanayatho Thyagaraajaarchitha
With a body resembling sapphire, with rows of pearls on the chest, with the splendour of bow and arrows in Your hands, along with daughter of Earth, Seetha, did You come by foot in order to protect me?
