Dear Children
84 ''The appearance of god of love ''
When we are in difficulty we look to god to save us from the unfavourable situation and suffering. We look to god and think of him because we feel we cannot handle the situation to our relief. We consider ourselves not capapble of redeeming ourselves from the trbulation. It is common and natural therefore to seek the support of some one beyond ourselves. God is the solution is the result of our decision and we thank god for all our success, safety, and satisfaction in everything we do, think and convey.
Dwaraka was very hot that day. |Being close to the open sea, the heat from the hot sun was much in the air. It was like having a very hot bath because of the moisture in the air charged with heat from the mid day sun. Saint Naradha felt his throat and mouth dried up and was physically very tired and exhausted when he entered the palace of Krishna.
'Swagatham (welcome) Swamiji, We are happy you thought of us said Rukmini on seeing him and seated him in a cool place. Krishna has gone out and will be returning soon. He told me of your visit and asked me to attend to your comfort until he returned. Let me go and bring som some cold butter milk for you to quench your thirst'' So saying Rukmini moved towards the kitchen. Naradha noticed the advanced pregnancy making her walk slowly when she was about to move towards the kitchen.
“Maaji, dont strain yourself. I find you have already a big pot of water here for visitors. Let me first help myself with water. This is more than enough for me at present. You reserve a big and sumptuous treat for me when you deliver a most beautiful baby boy as charming as his father. He will no doubt be more handsome and brave than his illustrious father. I await the treat soonest. Will you grant it?''
Anything uttered by Rishis and Saints, would come true because of the effect of meditation and self control they exercise. Of all those Naradha was the supreme muneeswara and a devotee of Narayana, and so it became true.
Pradhumnan was born to Krishna and Rukmini. Legend says that when Lord Siva, because his meditation was disturbed by Manmadh, (god of love) opened his third eye and burnt Manmadh to ashes, he was born in his next birth as Pradhyumna, the son of Krishna. So Pradhyumna was naturally very handsome, beautiful and charming as can be expected and predicted by sage Naradha
Dear children, if you start counting whether Krishna had more friends or enemies, you will come to know that he had more enemies in Rakshasas, Asuras and demons, who were interested in exterminating Krishna from the time he was born. You have read already many stories in this connection.
There was a demon bythe name Champaran, He came to know that his death will be caused by Pradhyumna, the son of Krishna. From the time he learnt this, he was trying his best to wait for a chance to kidnap Krishna's son, when he was born. When he learnt that Pradhyumna was born he devised plans to kidnap Pradhyuman and kill him, before he was killed by Pradhyumnan.
So within ten days of Pradhyumna's birh, Champaran took the form of a young woman, entered Krishna's palace and volunteered to take care of the new born child. When he found an unguarded moment, he escaped with the kidnapped baby. On the way he threw the baby Pradhyumna into the seas.
Luckily for Pradhyumna, a big shark was observing something falling into the sea and received it in its open mouth. So Pradhyumna landed into the mouth of the big shark. Unfortunately for the shark, it was caught immediattely by a fisherman who was there looking for a big catch. The shark was sold in the market by the fisherman.
Sage Naradha knows everything happening everywhere isn't it?
He approached Mayavathi, who was for long working as the trusted servant girl in the house of Champaran, the demon, and told her
"Mayavathi, you have been waiting for your missing husband for long, is n't it? You have a good chance now. Immediately go the fish market and you will find in the shop a ''just catched and brought'' big shark. Go and buy quickly. In its mouth your loving husband lives born as a baby boy. You take him out of the fish and bring him up nicely as your own son in your house, and you will feel happy to have helped your husband at least in his next birth as a baby boy''
Mayavathi was surprised and puzzled. She could not believe what the saint told her. ''My husband!! now inside a fish?!! He will be my son!! Is sage Naradha playing with me, Has he become mad due to aging ? Is he imagining things?''
Sage Naradha observed quickly Mayavathi's hesitation and did not believe what he said. He continued
''Mayavathi, I understand your predicament. You dont believe what I said just because you dont know abdout yourself first. You will be surprised to learn that you were Rathi, the wife of Manmadh the god of Love in one of your previous births. Manmadh has now in this birth reborn as Pradhyumna, the charming and beautiful baby boy of Krishna, the King of Dwarka. Do as I say and you wil be rewarded''
Mayavathi was thrilled by what the sage Naradha revealed to her. She immediately obeyed the instruction of the sage and rushed to the market. She located the big shark easily as identified by sage Naradha and bought at a very high price demanded by the fisherman and took home the shark. When she hurriedly cut open its stomach, she found the little baby boy Pradhyumnan still alive and kicking.
The moment she found the charming little baby boy she trusted what the sage advised her. Implicitly she followed his instruction.
Pradhyumnan grew as a baby boy in the house of the servant woman Mayavathi. When he grew up Mayavathi told him about his parentage and previous birth details. He also learnt how as a baby boy he was thrown into the sea by the demon Champaran after kidnapping him from his parents. He wanted to revenge. He prepared himself for a fight with the demon Champaran and killed in the fierce battle between them.
Pradhyuman took Mayavathi with him and went to Krisha's palace. Sage Naradha accompanied them.
It was a happy reunion of the son with his loving parents.
Dear Children, you may wonder why Krishna kept quoet and did not make any effort to trace Pradhyuma all these time? Well, Krishna knew everything and allowed things to happen as they were destined to be. He knew well that Pradhyuman has to be hiding until he became big to kill Champaran and return to his parents. Do you think sage Naradha did everything on his own? Of course not. It was as per instruction of Krishna to him he played his part in this drama. It was he who sent Naradha to Mayavathi, and it was he who saved the baby in the stomach of the shark and kept him alive until he reached Mayavathi's house.
After having lost the baby born within ten days, if the ''lost'' son reappears as a beautiful charming and handsome youth, an exact reproduction of the god of love and most magenetic personality like his father, how much happiness Pradhyumna would have brought to Rukmini and ''Krishna''?
Rukmini ran to him and embraced him with abundant joy and happiness. She happily looked at Krishna. The ''kapata naataka suthradhari" was acting like any other stupefied, amazed and astonished father on earth completely surprised !!
