Dear Children
82 ''THE ENTRY AND EXIT''
After Kamsa was killed and Vasudeva and Devaki were freed from prison by Krishna and Balarama, a girl was bornf to King Vasudeva and his second wife Rohini. She was named Subadhra. She was therefore much younger than Krishna and loved him more than her life. Certain legends say that she was an incarnation of Parvathi Devi and married Arjuna because Arjuna was partly an incarnation of Lord Shiva!.
One afternoon Krishna visited Subhadra and they were talking about all their family matters when Subhadra said
‘’Dear brother, do you know that I am bearing a great hero of our clan in me and he is growing fast?’’
"Subhadra you are very clever. You wanted initially one Arjuna, hereafter you will be therefore two Arjunas !! It is the good fortune of the Pandava clan and it is a matter of pride for them to possess two Arjunas. Every one knows that because of Arjuna’s presence no one can dare fight with Pandavas and dream of winning them. Now what will they think if two Arjunas are there with Pandavas” laughed Krishna.
At that time Arjuna entered in and was very happy to see Krishna there and his face brightened with happiness.
‘’Ah, my dear Arjun, you just entered at the right time when we were discussing about your brave decendant to be born!!
Arjuna remembered having invited Krishna that day to discuss about the different types of Vyuhas they have to create during the battle with Kauravas and at the same time how to break the different Vyuhas to gain access to attack the enemy.
After sometime Subadhra too joined the friends and listened to their talk with interest.
‘’Krishna, let us discuss about the Chakra Vyuha in setting which Dhrona is very clever and it is one which is very difficult to pierce and break through. I am sure Dhrona will certainly make it difficult for us to beat him. I have been thinking about it and have made some plans to counter the attack of Dhrona with corresponding Vyuhas to break the one Kauravas set for us.” So saying Arjuna was explaining in detail the types of Vyuhas set by the enemy and the type of Vyuhas to be set to counter it and break through and move inside the opposite forces. I called you to clarify my views and to consult you for better moves.
Then Krishna being a renowed warrior and clever commander knew about all the Vyuhas, attacks and counter attacks depending on the size and strength of both sides.
So after listening to Arjun’s plans and views, he suggested some improvements in the plans of Arjuna and who all to be in charge of the important points of the Vyuhas, the vigil to be employed by the point- heads and the preparedness required to meet the surprises thrown by the opposite side Etc., Krishna in particular was explaining about the attack and counter attack concerning the Chakra Vyuha in detail which are really war secrets. Subadhra was listening to all that was said by Krishna with interest. It was not Subadhra alone who listened. Also the little Abhimanyu inside her was also carefully noting menally what Krishna and his father were discussing about Chakra Vyuha.
Krishna suddenly stopped the discussion and turned to Subadhra. "It is a long discussion and we have many yet to clarify. I think it is better for you to go to bed and sleep for a while. This is something we have to necessarily discuss and solve. Why should you strain yourself for nothing. I suggest you go and take rest. We will call you when we need you.”
Subadhra obediently followed what her loving brother Krishna advised her and left them to continue their discussions.
After she left, Krishna and Arjuna were discussing drawing different plans to create and destroy so many Vyuhas including the break through of Chakra Vyuha and to re-open it to emerge out of it.
On the 13th day of the Mahabharath epic War Abhimanyu took the lead and ventured to fight with the Kauravas forces in the absence of Krishna and Arjun. As already known toyou, they both were out of the battle field intentionally led by the Saindhavas, Trikarthas to chase them and attack.
Abhimanyu was facing the difficult Chakra Vyuha set by Dhronacharya. Yudhishtra was leading the attack with Abhimanyu with him. He knew how to break through the Chakravyuha as he learnt it while being unborn listening to Krishna and Arjuna. So he was successful in entering the enemy forces. They closed the Vyuha after he gained entry and Yudhishtra could not break through to follow Abhimanyu. Yudhishtra shouted at him ‘’Abhimanyu don’t enter. Wait till Arjuna returns “
Abhimanyu did not listen to Yudhishtra as he was very happy that he broke through the ChakraVyuha and gained entry inside.
The poor boy did not know how to emerge out of it as he did not learn it. While Krishna and Arjuna were discussing the exit formula Subadhra was sent by Krishna to get in and sleep. So both Subhadra and the little Abhimanyu never had the opportunity to learn how to escape and emerge out of the Chakra Vyuha. It was therefore easy for Kauravas to surround him on all sides all alone, and kill him.
After a long time Krishna revealed to Arjuna
“Abhimanyu was an embodiment of Chandra (Moon) He was cursed by a sage named Garga to meet with his death at the age of 16. It is a known fact. On the 13th day of the war, when Abhimanyu broke through the Chakra Vyuha, set by Kauravas, he completed his 16th year. He could not be saved by any one. That is also one reason for my not revealing to him the escape route from Chakra Vyuha when we were discussing when he was a baby in Subhadra’s womb. I knew he was keenly listening to the process of entering the Chakra Vyuha from our discussions but was prevented from known the technique of escape from it.
Also on the day he was destined to death, I drove your chariot away from the battle field leaving Abhimanyu to fend for himself without you and me being in the battle field to take help.
I say this not because I did not like Abhimanyu, but when he was cursed by sages nothing or no one can prevent it. We call it destiny and cannot blame it on any one as each one is responsible for his own act, deed, word or thought. Well let us understand it was Abhimanyu’s Prarabdha karma.
